SLR laser transmission optics

The laser pulses are generated at a rate of 13Hz in an environmentally-controlled room within the station building. The pulses are transmitted to the beam-expanding optics mounted alongside the main telescope via a series of five optically-flat, coated mirrors.

The laser is fired by a dye cell at one end of the cavity which has to be monitored to keep the optimum dye strength for high energy and highly stable laser pulses.

See here for dye strength monitoring
