Hailsham and Heathfield District
St. George's Day Parade 2008
at Broad Oak & Punnetts Town
The Rev. Mark Redman, Vicar of Christ Church, Horam, conducted the Service,
and accepts our flags during the singing of the first song.
Following prayers, our District Commissioner, Kim Allfrey addresses the gathering
and introduces the Deputy County Commission, Roger Gibbs.
Roger presented awards to one of our Beavers,Jade Sutton,a Cub,Toby Parsons and
two Scouts, Mark Robinson and Michael Parsons, in recognition of having completed the Centennial 100 Challenge
After various long service awards had been presented the Service continued with more joyful singing,
a very amusing address by the Rev. Redman, the renewal by all Beavers, Cubs and Scouts of their promise
and the dedication of a new flag for the Board Oak and Punnetts Town Explorers.
The Service ended with a blessing of those gathered and the singing of the National Anthem.
The voluntary collection this year is in aid of the Leo House Children’s’ Hospice, in Brighton.
Everyone enjoyed the refreshments and the four Centennial Challengers had a special cake,
kindly donated by Pam Batchelor, to cut and complete the afternoon.
Peter Goodwin has his very own special cake to cut and share with friends.
